My doctor told me that I need to go to the denist to get my teeth cleaned because the baby can affect my teeth and gums. I was like ok another person to take my co-pay. However, she was right. Just recently my gums started to bleed when I brushed my teeth. This had never happened before.
I went to the most amazing dentist his office. There were massage chairs in the waiting room it was modern, funky and can you believe my insurance picked them. Everyone in the office was so nice and he seemed to love digging in my mouth.
He went on to tell me that when you are pregnant the baby takes your calcium and it affects your teeth. My friend just called me yesterday to tell me that she has to now get too teeth pulled because of her pregnancy. wow! That is why your suppose to drink lots of milk (real cow milk for you soy, goat or weird milk drinkers) I drink tons of milk even before the baby. I don't have the calcium problem so far but my gums were bleeding because they're caused by higher progesterone levels, which make my gums react more to the bacteria in plaque, and by an increased blood supply in my mouth. This so-called pregnancy gingivitis affects about half of pregnant women. He made them bleed even more so the swelling would go down and then he said they should be fine. I didnt realize all that was going on in my mouth.
