The baby is affecting my teeth?

My doctor told me that I need to go to the denist to get my teeth cleaned because the baby can affect my teeth and gums. I was like ok another person to take my co-pay.  However, she was right. Just recently my gums started to bleed when I brushed my teeth.  This had never happened before.

I went to the most amazing dentist his office. There were massage chairs in the waiting room it was modern, funky and can you believe my insurance picked them.  Everyone in the office was so nice and he seemed to love digging in my mouth.

He went on to tell me that when you are pregnant the baby takes your calcium and it affects your teeth.  My friend just called me yesterday to tell me that she has to now get too teeth pulled because of her pregnancy.  wow! That is why your suppose to drink lots of milk (real cow milk for you soy, goat or weird milk drinkers)  I drink tons of milk even before the baby. I don't have the calcium problem so far but my gums were bleeding because they're caused by higher progesterone levels, which make my gums react more to the bacteria in plaque, and by an increased blood supply in my mouth. This so-called pregnancy gingivitis affects about half of pregnant women. He made them bleed even more so the swelling would go down and then he said they should be fine. I didnt realize all that was going on in my mouth.

What stroller to get?

I am now at the point where I have registered both at Target and Babies R Us, however, there are 2 very important items that I have not put on either list yet. The CAR SEAT and the STROLLER!

I had no clue that there were soooo many choices. I put a posting on my Mocha Moms message board and asked what their favorite strollers were. So after over 40 responses of Moms telling me about ALL different kinds of strollers here are the top ones.

The Orbit: This is celebrity stroller. It is know as the heaviest stroller on the market but this one caught my eye.  It rotates so you can either look at the baby or have it sideways or facing forward.  Car seat adapter so it snaps right on into the car. However, you have to buy a separate toddler seat when the baby gets bigger. I will have a personal review on this one tomorrow. I am going to my friend's house and she uses this one with her baby. This stroller runs around $1,300. (this is the one that they side I did not need. They said babies grow too fast to spend that much money on a stroller)

The Graco traveling system: This is the most popular name you might know. But to me this is the one that looks the dirtiest fastest because of the plastic and fabric it is made of.  The seat also does not recline far back.  On the cheaper end $150-$210.

Dreamer Design Park Ave: Only comes in Red, Blue or Camo. Removable fabric for cleaning. Ranges from 200-350. It is a indoor/outdoor and a jogger. I like the look of this one but it does not have a cup holder. So no place to set a bottle or my martini. lol

Peg Perego: Another one of my favorites. I  like this one because it lays down and turns into a bassinet.  Also you can attach the Peg Perego car seat onto the base.  Different heights adjustments.  This one is $599.

The SNAP 'n GO was the favorite of ALL of the moms. This is a stroller base and most car seats just snap into it. It is light and easy to get from point A to B. It is about $50 dollars, you just have to buy a car seat to fit it. Not a good stroller from outside walking. Great for quick runs.

Combi Flex Travel System: This stroller is light and great for airplanes.  The combined system is $150 which is super cheap. It also does great in the safety test. I will be looking into this one also.

Bugaboo: Another expensive stroller that has been made popular by celebrities. This one is another 3 in 1. I am also planning to check this one out. My goal is to only buy one stroller and a snap and go. The cons on this stroller is that it has a 2 part fold and no cup holder. Starts at $700.

The Stokke: It is a celebrity favorite however you need someone to carry around your baby bag because there is no where to put anything. It sits up high which is a great benefit but it looks unsafe to me even though it has passed the safety test.  This is $1,300.

I will be looking at all of these strollers. The main things I am looking for is safety, last through the toddler years, price, car seat combo or attachment, weight, if it fits into my car and if it has a smooth ride, cup holders, and a place to put a diaper bag.

Life is so Short!

I wanted to write this blog because I was watching the news to hear about the father who killed his 5 year old twin girls, 2 year old twin boys and 8 year old girl. All because him and his wife lost their jobs.  I know times are hard but killing your self and family is not the answer.

Just after watching this I get a phone call from a close friend. He informs me that another one of our friends just had to identify her roommate's body. She was hit and instantly killed by someone who carelessly ran a red light.  She was leaving a pitch meeting  at a big studio and her dreams were about to come true.

The first story the guy was selfish and thought that death was a way out, the second story is a girl that was happily living life and things were just about to change for her and someone took that away from her and her family.

Please live every day to the fullest you never know when it is your time to go. Be safe on the road pay attention to what you are doing. I will be putting down my cell phone on the road after the phone call I received. And please please please if you have been drinking do not drive. I know you can not fully prevent accidents but try not to put your self at risk.

STAY STRONG SIMONE! We love you! My prayers go out to you, your roommate and her family.

Cravings?

When are they going to start? I want to send Maurice to the store for something crazy.  I dont have any cravings.  Maybe the craving for money but that is my normal daily craving.

So far everything is normal except for the fact that I can not fit my big ass into my normal jeans, I pee all the time and I have to sleep on my side.

I think my friends are all eating for me. My friends Adrienne and Jermaine both brought whole red velvet cakes just for themselves and ate them.  I brought strawberries and bananas.

Maybe they will come later on.  Ill keep you posted.  Time is flying by.

Welcoming New President Obama

I love this picture!

Yesterday I was glued to my tv as well as having my lap top on cnn. I am so proud of our progress of a country.  However, we have so much further to go but this is a beautiful start. He seems ready to make change and I am right behind him.  Along with his strong, fly black woman on his side.

Tears were in my eyes, wishing I was there (I returned my ticket because of the crowds, me being pregnant my mom thought it would not be a good idea)  However I have 8 years to make it to see him in person...YES I said 8 years.  And I know I will do it.

I am so excited to start this new year with a new baby, a new president, new goals, and just a new attitude. I can do it and I will!

Getting ready for a Baby Shower

I did not think that this was going to be a hard thing but since I have a bunch of friends from different groups I need to decide who goes to which baby shower.  My friends Derrick and Tarsha are throwing the showers. Still deciding on locations, themes, games and MONEY.

Tarsha is my sorority sister/college friend who had twin boys about 10 months ago.  She will be helping me decide what I need to pick when I register. I have no clue at all.  I do know that I will be registering at

*TARGET
*Babies R Us

Just so much stuff that you need, and since we had a stupid president for 8 years money sucks right now.  Car seat, stroller, crib, dresser with changing table, and tons of other stuff. ahhhhhh I do know that "pink" will be the color...since she is my little princess.

For all of you mothers out there if you think of something that you know I need please let me know.

Thanks.

I taught dance for 5 hours!

I am soooo happy today. I have started the year off right. I began my day very nervous. I could not even sleep at night. I will make this part quick. I work for an Artist Development Company in Japan. Basically they fly their clients out to me and I train them for about a month and a half on lyrical, ballet and hip hop with focus on performing techniques. Ya know when you hear an artist that looks good and sounds good but they can not perform....well that is what I train them to do.

I did not tell the company that I was pregnant because I did not want them to think I could not do my job. So I threw on my biggest sweat shirt and hope that they would notice my belly. Well they didn't, or at least they did not say anything...at least they didn't say anything in english.

However, the manager of the artist loved me and kept thanking me and thanking the company for finding me to work with his artist. The artist is great, she works hard and a very quick learner.

After I taught her for 2 hours. I then ran to an audition/photo shoot with my pregnancy modeling agency. Then went to Whole Foods and got a really nasty lunch came home a rested for about 45 mins then went off to teach at the dance studio around the corner. That was painful because the first class was 5-6 year olds, the second 7-9yr olds and the last class was teens. The first two were such a headache they did not listen, they ran around and played, cried and danced when they felt like it. The last was the best because I really got to work with the students.

I am home now and I am soooo happy that I had a great day dancing and auditioning. I am sore but it was WELL WELL worth it.

MOMMA IS BACK!

Think this is a hot picture of Brit I will be taking one of these!

I just felt a big move.... just now!

1/6/09 at 12:42 Skyla moved more then she has ever moved. It started with a big kick then my whole tummy moved in a wave. It was sooo cool. It was a lot of movement for about 3 minutes. I sat with a big smile on my face just holding and looking at my stomach.

I can not really describe how it felt because I have nothing to compare it too. I guess the closest thing I can compare it to is your stomach bubbling from gas but very large gas bubble but it did not hurt like a gas bubble. lol Ok I guess I need to get better at the distributions.

Ok that is all I wanted to say. I going to sleep now. Funny she only moves at night, so when I am ready to go to sleep she is having a party inside my belly.

The picture:
I adopted a puppy from my friend. His girlfriend was mistreating it so I had to take her. I know I know. Stupid for me to get a puppy before the baby but I had to take her before the crazy girl killed her. She is a 15 week old tea cup Yorkie. sooo cute and she loves to lay on my belly. One day Skyla started moving and "Bella" (the puppy) ears stood up and she started to lick my tummy. Then she put her head back on down and just listened.

My New Years Resolution for 2009

The year 2008 was a big year for me. I booked more jobs then I have ever had in my total years in LA. I was sooo happy. It started out very high and ended pretty low. Long story, do not wish to get into it. On my 30th birthday I was suppose to being buying my first house but instead I was finding out that I was pregnant. I thought that my world would be over. But I have learned to except it as a blessing from God and know that he will not give me anything that I can not handle.

2009 will be a life changing year for me. I will be having a baby in May of 2009 as you know. I usually plan everything but this is something in my life that I can not really plan for because I don't know how things are going to be. Which is freaking me out.

So I have a couple of resolutions:
*Put more trust in God
*Be happy
*Put me and my child first
*Be a great mom
*finish my scripts
*get Lucky Vision off of its feet
*trust my gut
*learn to say NO
*GET MYSELF BACK

I am ready to face this year head on. Scared but as ready as I will be. Anything is possible...we have a black PRESIDENT. I believe in CHANGE!

Rose Bowl

I know that this has nothing to do with my baby. Well almost nothing. I went to Penn State University and on Jan 1 they played USC in the Rose Bowl. We lost bad, so bad that I am not posting the score. But it was a great feeling to go to the pep rally  and the game and see old college friends. We were so close that we could smell the players. I am talking 2 rows from the field.

Being at the game and seeing all the Penn State pride made me really miss my school. I even started crying. I would love for Skyla to go to college there. Here are some pictures from the Rose Bowl events.

Moving? I HATE moving!

Pics from where I live now...

Here is the problem. I loveeeeee where I live now, however it is VERY expensive and it is hard to maintain without the baby here and I know when the baby comes money is going to start flying out of our pockets for things. My friend pay $15 bucks an hour for her nanny. So if we want to go to dinner and a movie not only do we have to pay for the dinner and the movie but the sitter. That could be one expensive date. And I do have tons of friends that have offered to babysit but there are VERY few of them that I would trust with my child. Sorry guys.

So back to moving. We basically need to move to a cheaper place but a place that has 2/3 bedrooms and a washer and dryer. I will not be in a laundry matt/room with a stroller, crying baby and a laundry basket. I am soooo spoiled where I live now, if you have been to my place you know what I am talking about. Every place I look at does not add up or looks unsafe to bring a baby into.

My lease is up one week before I am due and I am not trying to wait until then. I can not buy a house because it takes forever to close, and we don't have house money.

These are my options:
*Break my lease and move to a place I don't like just because it is cheaper. (and most likely move in a year since I don't like it)
*Stay and struggle with the high rent and try to move when Skyla is about 3 months
*Ideally find a place that we love (still have to break our lease but at least we would not leave for a while)

Let me know what you think. If you know a place we can move that has:
* atleast 1,000 square feet (this is small compared to where I am now but I who cares)
* washer/dryer
* parking
* 2/3 bedrooms
* large closets
* new bathroom and kitchen (or at lease remodeled. Don't like nasty kitchens and bathrooms)
*lots of natural light
*not on a busy street (street noise is annoying)
*pet friendly (I have a dog and a cat)

Thanks yall.

Oh and congrats to my friends Derrick and Bianca they both found new nice apartments. Dont be surprised if you see us moving in.

Week 23 Tummy pics!

23 WEEKS

Christmas Party

Maurice and I on Christmas

Week 23!

It is week 23 and I can see a difference in my tummy. I can only sleep on my side or it is fatal to me and my baby. So my bottom leg falls a sleep a lot. I have so many pillows around me that Maurice hugs a small side of the bed.  I get up about 2 times a night to go to the bathroom.

I feel like I smell like pee all the time so I shower a lot. lol My hair is a mess but I dont have any money to get it done so I am going to braid it up again tonight. Skyla only moves at night for the most part or when I am dancing to music. She like T-Pain. lol

I start teaching dance this wednesday and my client does not know I am pregnant. I should be fine I danced today with my girl Reegan and it was a success.  Just can't drop it like it is hot like I use too.

Here is my tummy pic. Sorry not showing my face, my hair is not done.
